The hearts become the Heartless...
The leftover shells become the Nobodies...
These are defined as fact...
Yet, the Ansem Studies never delged into the very being that brought them about...
What of the Encephalon? What of the collective aspects of intellect and consciousness which are manifest in some combination of thought, perception, emotion, will and imagination?
It is well known that Heartless are instinctual in their actions and Nobodies lack their entire memories. Based on this, it can only be assumed that the Encephalon or mind is seperated also and turned into something else...

My studies proved correct. Me and my team have found distinct evidence that there is a seperation.
Most of the minds that have been released have simply wandered around the containment chamber, lost or looking for something. When we experimented with releasing one, it vanished completely.
We continued to experiment on the other minds through various methods. Nothing seemed to effect them. It began to worry me that such beings in a state without a body could be so resiliant against our efforts...
These creatures formed from minds could very well be stronger than the Nobodies and Heartless alike...

A remarkable thing has happened. Yesterday, a stranger in a long cloak came to the labratory. He was extremely thin and his skin was a remarkable white as though the sun had never touched it. When we met him, we thought he was merely a homeless bum or some other squabble.
But, he claimed to be a certain mind that we released. It was a strange thing to hear, I'll tell you. How could he have aquired a body? We interrogated him of course, but he refused to give us answers. He claimed he had only come back to see his brothers.
I don't trust him. There's something about him... A hidden power that he is reluctant to release yet. We just don't understand enough yet...

The mind who returned to us calls himself Xehanort. It is a strange name indeed and we aren't sure if this was his name when he was Whole or if like all other portions of the Whole, he has dubbed a new name for himself.
When he came to us, he was bald, but now his hair is growing again and we can see plainly that it is a silvery color. Also, his eyes are a most unusual orange. It's nothing like anything I've ever seen in my studies.
We can't be sure if this is the hair color and eye color of all of what we call the Mindless.
We need more specimens... We need to be able to tell whether this is a constant or like we assumed, an individual trait. It all our other evidence is correct, the Mindless would be the most individual Creatures of the Whole yet.

Xehanort seemed to be getting much better. We allowed him to see his "brothers" and he was quite pleased. The way he moves is stunning. It is more of a glide than a walk. Again, we are unsure if this is a Mindless trait or something else.
When he met his brothers he pressed his hand to the containment chamber and closed his eyes. The lights flickered and at first we were afraid. We need not be though. Instead, Xehanort helped us greatly. Inside the chamber were multiple black and white creatures. They were not like Xehanort, but we didn't expect them to be.
I had already concluded that Xehanort was special just like the abnormalities in Nobodies and Heartless that result in particularly advanced forms. These Mindless, though, were also thin. They didn't jump and move absentmindedly like Nobodies or Heartless do. They remained stationary, giving off a sinister air.
It is then that I felt pure terror. I could feel the Mindless' pull to destroy us all. To force our minds to join them. I was completely wrong about my theory, I think now. The Mindless are not the most individual Creatures of the Whole, but the exact opposite. They operate as a hive. As one.
If this is true, then their natural goal would be to absorb as many members into their collection as possible...
If this is true, we are all doomed...
Remember this... I warned you...
