Thinking of getting a 360

I'm going to be getting a job here soon, hopefully, so I'll have a little cash to spend. I've got my eye on a Premium 360 with 1 year of Xbox Live and Halo 3.

I'm not sure what else to get games-wise. I'm thinking Gears of War, Bioshock, and Crackdown are some candidates but are there any other games I should keep an eye out for?

I think you should wait. They're going to be making 360s with better cpu chips soon... probably before the end of the year. An improved CPU chip along with the new heatsinks would be a lot more reliable than any 360 you'd buy at the moment. Of course, you can rely on the 3 year warranty, but what if your problems don't occur until it's done? And plus, this is Microsoft we're talking about, so who knows how much of a hassle it would be to get a bad 360 fixed, despite the warranty.

You can get one now with the new heatsink, but I suggest waiting.

What Ray said. Don't buy a 360 now unless you absolutely don't mind sending it back for a new one as soon as you get the red rings, because it's going to continue happening until pretty much the entire last few batches of 360 are sold.

Do it. Most of the newest Xboxes are being correctly made and not like my old one that did crash and burn. Plus if it does by some chance crash and gets the rings of death, some Gamestops and Ebgames take the broken one in for you and lends or gives you a new one if you bought it at that store.

On the Microsoft part, I agree with Ray, Microsoft is horrible on these parts, but the three year warranty, Gamestop trade ins and the currently made 360's with better inards will be a big part of getting one.

And Halo 3.

Alright, thanks for the heads up, guys. I probably won't be getting one for another month or two anyways, assuming I do get the job, so hopefully they'll have the improved 360s out by then. I guess Sony and Microsoft switched place this gen, in terms of hardware quality.

Any ideas on some other games? Bioshock might just be a rental for me and I'm not quite sure about Crackdown. What do you guys think?

I liked Bioshock, but I've been playing it on my Mac Pro and not my 360 and I love Crackdown.

Try Eternal Sonata if you want an RPG to play, I've been hearing good stuff about it from friends. It's made by the guys that made Baten Kaitos.
