You know what they say. Don't count your zerglings before they hatch.

Anyone else here think it rediculous that they are selling a product that does not even exist yet? And what are they going to do, heaven forbid, if this goes the way of Starcraft Ghost? All this is doing is pumping money into their company... With no return for at least a year. Do these people not realize that they are LOSING MONEY by reserving it?

I don't think there will be any shortage of game to go around. Every store will be stocked with those things. And I can guarantee that they will not be able to keep them on the shelf for at least a week.

Actually from a business perspective, its great. Right now in NZ, interest rate is something like 7.5%

Imagine 10,000 people bought that game. EBgames gets $500,000. Since we can expect to see it in about a years time, thats 1.5 * 7.5% = 10% (majorly rounded)

That means EBgames makes $50,000 ($500,000 X 10%)

Yes thats right, $50,000 for taking preorders.

The only problem is the whole 'what if its cancelled' (ala sc ghost) or what if people start asking for refunds because it doesnt arrive for another 3 years - in that case the administration costs may exceed $50,000!

When I said losing money with no return, I was refering to the consumers, lol
I agree with you though. For them, this is a brilliant way to cash in on an extremely popular game.
