Nah, I think they would show something like that. Kakashi is a popular character in the show and anything about it would make fans happy.

Gee. Lee takes quite a bit of beatings doesn't he? When has he ever succeded in a fight? Against the Sound Shinobi in the Chuunin Exam? No. Gaara? No. Kimimaru? No. Raiga? No. Lee's nifty and all with his Drunken Fist, but he's really a crappy fighter.
