PS3 sold out in Japan on launch day

Yep. Only 80,000 consoles were available and they sold out in record time. I guess it doesn't really surprise me too much. Most systems seem to sell out at launch no matter what.

Ign reported that there were no lines at japans largest game retail stores a couple days before launch.

But there sure as hell will be this friday.

Yea myself personally will wait till Summer-Fall 07 to get an PS3, at the offices we ordered both versions to test out, but Sony said they will get them here as soon as possible, and Nintendo brought them about two days after we ordered them.

I guess Sony should have made more units, instead of thinking that they had enough.

Sony's pretty stupid if they don't lower the price at least a little bit after 6 months. By that time, most people willing to pay $600 will already have the thing. Anyone not willing or able to pay the price just won't be getting one until the price drops... and the system just won't sell until then. But Sony has been proving that they're stupid a lot lately...
