Take-Two's biggest blockbusters such as Grand Theft Auto IV and BioShock skipped the Nintendo Wii, but with the console's installed base growing by leaps and bounds, the publisher may need to more seriously consider more Wii opportunities, execs said Wednesday.

"Even though we think M-rated content is much more appropriate for the PS3 or 360, we have to look at the Wii as a viable platform across all our labels," said CEO Ben Feder during an earnings call. "We have to, because we can't ignore the installed base. You just can't."

Take-Two previously released the M-rated Manhunt 2 on the Wii in 2007, which stirred up controversy as the game's violence was put into motion with the console's interface. The violence earned it an Adults-Only rating initially, and was only released once Take-Two downplayed certain scenes. It failed to attract a wide audience within the Wii's then-smaller userbase.

But Take-Two has seen success on the Wii with the family-friendly Carnival Games franchise."The success of the Carnival Games franchise gives us a great foundation upon which to build" on the Wii, Feder said.

"Some of our best content really isn't appropriate for the Wii. That said, Carnival Games has been a massive success for the company, and we're looking at ... extending that brand to other areas."

The exec also said sports franchises will address the Wii market in the coming year.

The DS title GTA: Chinatown Wars, an M-rated game, may also serve as a barometer as to how a typical Nintendo audience would react to future adult-themed games on Wii.

Feder said Take-Two's partnership with Nintendo is "the strongest it's ever been" and the company has been working closely with Nintendo on GTA: Chinatown Wars.

"They provide great feedback for us," he stated.

If this happens.. I'm getting a wii over 360/ps3! :wacko

I dont think its gonna happen.
Nintendo would risk losing its family/children friendly image.
True, but it comes down to profits. They already have rights to Mario, so by adding games like GTA... I think helps them.

But, I agree. It changes the outlook on Nintendo's image. They're trying to create a balance between kids/family gamers and adult gamers.

I mean I get their idea...it makes sense to concentrate on all age groups.I just dont think its gonna work out for them. Sony and Microsoft just got way too many advantages there.
MS and Sony might, but they lack in 2 departments.

Sony - PS3 is WAY to expensive and they are losing money now.

MS - price is comparable to the Wii, but they have TONS of system issues.

I haven't heard of many Wii's dying yet nor is the price too high.

As for games, I don't think it hurts to add shooter type of games. The main reason why the Wii is doing well is because of the Mario games.

SNES had and will always have the best games invented of all time. If you can bring them back, then new gamers and old will hit it up.

If the Wii wants to run a great game like GTA.. it will look like GTA2 then, cause of the shit graphics they have ;)
PS3 is expensive i admit, but worth every penny.
Xbox is pure crap, even the latest ones have the RROD, plus the games are not the nicest.
Wii is fun for once a week to have a little bit of fun with friends, but nothing for serious gaming.

Now you are just being mean. The wii GTA will be a fuzzy GTA 3 just a little bit above GTA 2 looks :p

But really the Wii really is not a good console. The games are at most either toned down ports or fun for a few days but are over easy or for kids.

PS3 is my baby and the one I use for most games while the 360 of mine I actually just use for Rockband and Guitar Hero Series of games.

And now this thread turns into a Bash the Wii thread!!
Haha nah I have to agree with Devils here, one can have lots of fun with the Wii during a party, with several friends etc. but thats about it. I somehow doubt it would entertain me for very long.

I agree with everyone about the graphics... That's what kept me away from the Wii.

I see Wii as a new gen SNES... because almost all the games are converted from the SNES version.

The only difference is it has more interactivity.
