Okay. Think about it like this.

If you live in my state, Oregon, and have no kids, and make 8$ an hour, you will be getting only about 5.90$ After Taxes. So, take away 3.45$ and you have 2.45$ left.

Man that's bad. Minimum wage here is like $7.15 an hour now. Dunno about the taxes though, it would be $7.15 minus 15% then about.

The minimum wages in Canada though are higher then the US, but I guess it nearly balances out with the whole currency difference.

Federal Minimum wage is 5.15$
