We're not getting any new members. What needs to be done? Post all ideas here.
And I hate to say this, but I recommend not cussing at each other... I know it's all usually just joking... but if we get more people.... it could cause a problem with misinterpretation.

I just think the activity level has dropped.. and something needs to be done to get people here and active... so far we have nothing to offer to newer members..

We don't have gaming reviews.. we don't have a RPG system, we don't have proper gaming forums related to certain games or consoles... basically we lack a lot.. and we need to improve asap...

This can't be done by just Fox and me... we need everyone's help.. and people SHOULD take this seriously... because I wouldn't want to see this place dead or shutdown... so we need to work out a plan and somehow get this place going... we've been online and up for a long time now!

I say we could set up more forum games like arcade games, and could possibly set up video integration in posts.

Hell, since GoTechGeeks has our own forum maybe when we (GTG forum when I mean we) get more members I could suggest to the team we put up a affiliate forum box and have members click on it.

Hey going along the lines of the GoTechGeeks forum, I could convince the team that I could put up gaming reviews here.

down side to arcade games = more bandwidth... Good idea.. still that is if it brings members in and ones that post too.. not just play the arcades and then not post or contribute..

We could set the links up to open in a little window when the people click the link. Not to have it in the forum but an window when people are posting.

Also make them possibly have to post to play the games, like 100 posts to have the first few ones then continue on.

K, know what's popular these days?

The boards that are home to tons of piracy via uploaders like rapidshare and megaupload.

Now I don't know about our server people's ToS

But for most, it's only illegal to host said media, not link to it.

Now I know there are a lot of gimmicks we could try to go for.

But Piracy is number 1. People love free media.

well, we already have a board for that. if we get more people, then maybe we can expand it.

well I don't mind.. but if we do get a complaint.. then the forums will be shutdown..

I don't think a "Gaming" forum should be used as a media forum..

HOLD IT! You'd shutdown the entire forum just because of some ignorant complaint from some idiot? Think about this. There's nothing illegal about linking to MP3s, games, and stuff like that. It's when you start hosting the files on your host's server that problems begin. And we're not doing that, so anyone that complains can shove it up their ass because they have no basis for a complaint. :pirate:

you have to remember... a complaint.. = a complaint from the host.. and since they OWN the server.. in the TOS.. they are allowed to shut down the forums and delete all files and forums.. meaning you will lose ALL your posts etc...

I think we should try to avoid linking to romz and such.. or if we do.. we should make a private section.. mabye for members who donate/pay to get access... Somewhat of the idea Zayne had.. where we can have members and then VIP members... VIP = members who've donated some money.. any.. to help the forum run..

It's already in a private section for VIPs only. but we can't do the donate/pay thing cause of what you already said... lots of members just don't have any method of doing so. so I say we just leave it private and not talk about it too much off of there. only a little bit at times like this.

how about mail method... I used to do that before. Others and I myself would send mail orders to the admin to help the site back awhile ago.

There were 2 ways of sending mail orders.. either you send cash and wrap it in something thick.. or send those mail money orders.. basically you pay the post office.. say $20 bucks.. and they write up a postal cheque.. with the owners name, so only he can cash it in.. and it would be worthless to anyother person if they did manage to steal it...

I'm really fine with the ads... it's just they don't seem to actually make us any money.
