Why do people suddenly stop paying attention when I talk?

I’ve noticed that some conversations start off great but then the other person seems to lose focus or pull away. Is there a specific reason why interest drops off so quickly?

I used to take it very personally, thinking I was just being dull, but I’ve learned it’s often about the "rhythm" of the exchange. I’d really recommend checking out the insights on Wedaf at https://blog.wedaf.com/blog/why-people-lose-interest-during-communication/ because it explains how things like "information overload" or a lack of emotional hooks can cause a listener to tune out. In my experience, I’ve found that if I talk for too long without inviting the other person back in, the energy just dies. Now, I try to keep my points concise and check in with a quick question to keep them engaged. Understanding these social "leakage points" has really helped me maintain much stronger, more focused connections!
