In America, 6 years ago, the price was about $1.50 USD per/gallon. Or cheaper, depending on the state you lived in.

Now it is pushing $3.00 USD - $5.00 USD.

Its ridiculous lol. I can't remember how many litres in a gallon but over here in Aus they said today that by 2017 (yes an actual year now) that it will be pushing about $6 a litre. Also on the news they said that vespa sales were booming to cut down on petrol prices lol.

Realistically, is there anything that they can do to cut petrol prices? I agree that it's ridiculous but petrol is too scarce to be selling cheaply and at least it will encourage more environmentally friendly transportation.

Its being done because of the war IMO. I think that when we pull out that they will start to drop because then there is definately no excuse...i'm surprised the one they have now has lasted so long in the first place.

I feel retarded for asking but, how so?
I can see that one of the reasons for the war was a desire to claim more oil resources, but how are rising petrol prices a direct consequence of the war?

I think it's because it's a lot harder for countries to get oil from Iraq, and all the Middle Eastern countries during the war. The government is making us pay more money, because it's harder to get. I think that's the reason, at least.
