My new C.O is a cool chick who totally kicks my ass at chess and the range. I wanna be her!! It would be cool to be a Major but I'm still a 1st Lieutenant and don't get promoted for another 2 years. .
dreamer i got a ? for ya' i keep getting calls from the army. they want me to be a military illustrator. designing ads nd ssigns and such. why the hell do i have to go through baisic training just to do this. i am sitting ata table or computer all day. the job is non deployable too so i am not gonna get sent out to iraq or anything..lol

Well Seddy here's the thing, EVERYONE goes through BCT, basic training, and AIT, advanced training, no matter which field you assigned in. I was in an OUST, all in one place for BCT and AIT, program at Fort Leonard Wood. Yes, you will not be deployed and your job is awesome! You start out as a PVT and make your way up the rank and file, with pay grade and bonuses depending on your work. I've been in the Army since I was 17 and I love every second of it, even though as a First Lieutenant I may see combat, i've been on 3 tours since the age of 18, I'm at a desk right now as a battalion S-2. The reason for you going to BCT is to teach you basic combat skills in case you do end up under fire if your on a base out of the US. Every month or so you'll go to the range and be tested on your skills, so don't slack just because you don't have to use your M16 or M9.

Gosh, I remember all of the training. . .yet I'll never go back and change a thing. The only reason I survived BCT was because of SD.

i am 27, a knee that get sore every so- often from riding, i had a drinking stage (college)
if i join the military thats 9 weeks that i wont be able to comepte, and i have sponsors.. no riding means pissed off sponsors.. so i would have to make a serious choice.....i am in good shape, dispite the knee,

Well when you go to MEPS they'll see if your knee is 'qualified' for they're standards. If not then you can go back to doing what you do.
well being as i can still race.. they'll prolly tell me i am fine for training.. i am gonan call teh guy back though and atleast talk to him.. see what they can offer me.
