yeah that's the way I see it too, but thing is you should always be prepared.... the hardest part is we never REALLY know when things will happen... I could be on a bus or driving and there could be a earthquake or what not...
you jus have to hope what ever happens, happens away from you, so you have enough time to either leave or be able to do something so you'll stay alive and well.

Dude Korea too, they wanted to make nukes and USA was pushing them around tooo.... All I can say is man, if USA is smart or even bush get TROOPS out... You guys realize that electricity is hardly our only source of energy right? Even if we don't have electricity we've got other ways to power things. And, I'm not sure that this solar storm could really do that much. A solar storm is just a concentrated arrangement of ion rays. Most likely, the magnetic fields of the earth will go haywire and we won't have the use of computers and other such stuff. Also, this will effect climate and animals. Humans don't rely on the magnetic fields naturally, unlike birds. We'd still have cars, lightbulbs, ect. But no more digital watches! =O

Splatt.... look at gas prices... there so high no real country will last long to afford gas or expensive things... electricty especailly here it's the cheapest resource. Also your car wouldn't work as 25% of your car is electrical... or has an electrical system in it.....

Nitz, I hate to contradict you here but ethenol is a cheaper and cleaner fuel. We have the technology to survive without gas. Why we don't fund this further, who knows? Also, gas would be a lot cheaper if we tapped into the billions of barrels worth of crude oil we have in Alaska. Yes, I know it's on the Alaskan reserve, but recent winters have driven animals away. Scientists are stating that the animals can't survive in those conditions anymore. Also, another contradiction to you Nitz. The car may have a large eletrical system but it is not computer based. It does not require specific data to use headlights and such. Solar storms won't effect eletrical current and they won't destroy electricity. (Not to mention, destroying electricity is scientifically impossible.) The problems we will be facing are with computers and anything else that goes haywire when a magnet touches it. The most such a storm would do to kill humans is to screw up our climates. On the subject of war, I have to say it is inevitable. A mass outbreak of war can't be stopped. Humans have the natural instinct to survive even if that means killing others. With well over 5 billion people on the planet, there is no way to keep the peace. We try, but look how good we are doing.

Solar storms would only knock out the main generators to cities in certain areas of the world, it would take one HELL of a solar storm to cause outages on a global scale. Not to say that it isn't possible. The radiation from the sun could eventually break through the earth's atmosphere, causing a massive ultraviolet radioton abundance, which would lead to many people getting skin cancer and badly damaged eyes. This summer we are supposed to be hit by a massive solar storm, but it's not like it hasn't ever happened to the planet before. I saw that show Harry, it was a huge IF show, kinda like a documentary on what COULD happen, but not something that neccessarily will.

The Y2K Bug is like this, if you had read my statement right. I said that this is most likely another rumor that was spread through those B.S. spam mail messages, just like how the Y2K Bug began.
Eventually, the best place you could survive would be underground, but even that is an uncertainty, as humans have come to be too privelaged and spoiled by the tools that have been invented. Most would die just from not knowing how to survive like our ancestors had thousands of years ago. Because we would almost literally be thrust back into the times of primitive man, hunting, scavenging, building fires by hand, etc. But enough could theoretically survive to continue the human race.
As for the war thing, as SPLATT said, it is theoretically inevitable. Humans have waged wars on each other from the beginning. We all have a deep seated instictive hunger for power, wealth, and control. As to become the "alpha", so to speak. But others seek the same things, so clashes are bound to happen between two or more forces at one point in time or another. With as many nuclear weapons as there are in the world, a setting much like the story of Terminator could be a possiblity as long as we remain dependant on computers. But it would be unlikely for enough humans to get a quick enough warning as to survive the coming planet-wide devastation that would occur.
How the world ends is, at this point in time, up in the air. Anyone can come up with a scenario of any kind with their imagination. And a lot of people are just gullible enough to believe it. People have become so gullible that a good percentage of the world has lost it's individuality and spirit, causing many people to become just like the rest of society, conforming to the pressures of what others think things SHOULD be, instead of being themselves and appreciating the fact that they are who they are, they are what God or whatever Being there is, made them, and that's how they should be, and not how everyone else is. THAT, is the true downfall of humanity: Conformity, Indistinguishablity, Reliance, Gullibility, Ignorance, Greed, and many other things.

Haha this is going to be a great day for me and if the world does end that will suck for my cousin cause its her birthday shes so lucky i hate her.
I actually hate to admit it.... but it's weird. my address is 3668 and my neighbours ios 3666 and all I can say is they have had bad luck!!! They just finally!!! sold their house and moved out this week.
Someone mugged the guys wife in her garage, they got gunz and told her to give all the cash she had.... then someone tried to rob their house.... and worst of all one day I parked my car infront of their house, since I had no room elsehwere on the street and my car got hit so bad it was totalted.... nothing left but the engine....

Nothing will happen. As SPLATT mentioned earlier, the same date occured in 1906, people were freaked then, but nothing happened. People who are into Cristianity or some form of it would be freaked by the number. If you believe enough or fear something enough, you will find things that happen and come to blame it all on that thing you fear. The asian guy wouldn't have thought anything of it because he more than likely isn't involved with anything that has to do with the bible, so he wouldn't get what the problem with it was, except for it's use in hollywood movies.
